SIMON SEBASTIAN
Simon Sebastian’s artistic practice goes beyond conventional boundaries; he is not merely an artist but also a collector. Inspired by urban space, he challenges the city's identity, symbols, and repetitions in his practice. Through his artworks, he creates artistic abstractions and interpretations that both directly and indirectly refer to and integrate elements collected from the city's architecture, cultural history, and urban fabric. Objects such as posters, poster columns, and city gates provide as inspiration for playful, vibrant time-images.
His artistic approach emphasizes recycling and site-specificity, utilizing mixed media materials such as plaster, tin, oil, and acrylic paint, alongside found objects. Simon Sebastian's artistic exploration extends beyond traditional mediums as he continually experiments with new techniques, including 3D-print sculptures, prints, and collages on posters.
Simon Sebastian (b. 1996), lives and works in Copenhagen, Denmark. He holds a BFA from The Art Academy – Department of Contemporary Art, University of Bergen, and The National School of Art of Paris-Cergy.
