LASSE CENTIO

Lasse Centio's artistic expression manifests as a fusion of inspiration from popular culture, his spontaneous stream of consciousness, and a relational aspect. He creates works that capture and freeze a cross-section of the moment. Over the past year, Centio’s fascination has been particularly directed towards the cowboy and cowboy aesthetics as a figure and motif. With this motif, Centio illustrates and freezes the cowboy in various postures; lying and sitting, relaxed and amidst a break from the everyday hustle and bustle. In this way, Centio connects the viewer with an intuitive snapshot and addresses both personal and universal themes with his colorful works in materials such as spray, acrylic, and oil paint, airbrush, plaster, cement, and clay. Painting forms the foundation of his practice. It is from here that he explores the use of color and motifs. From there, Centio experiments with different formats and works with the same motif in various materials. Over the past year, he has explored his practice through painting, ceramics, on paper, and as bronze casting.

Lasse Centio (b. 1996), lives and works in Skagen, Denmark. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Academy of Fine Arts - Department of Contemporary Art from the University of Bergen, Norway (2018-2021).
