BENNETT WILLIAMS

Working primarily with large scale paintings Bennett Williams actively seeks to investigate the painting in his practice. His works transforms different shapes into visual representations, and his works are often characterized by their bold and raw forms, thick black lines and unusual shapes. The abstract forms interact with the color palette, and each painting is unique and distinctive from one and other. The creation of the paintings often begins with charcoal drawings, and Williams often has several oil and enamel paintings in progress that he returns to. The many forms and shapes in the paintings are revisited and reshaped and together creates the overall final visual representation, where upon close examination the underlying layers become visible.

Bennett Williams (b. 1989), lives and works in New York.
