Ammon Rost is an artist based in New York whose gestural abstract paintings combine a broad range of art-historical influences with a distinctly personal visual language. Having grown up between Tokyo and California, his practice reflects an international outlook shaped by varied cultural experiences, while still conveying a sense of intimacy and introspection. Within his abstract compositions, traces of figuration often appear, revealing hints of recognizable imagery—such as faces, tools, and symbolic forms—emerging through energetic brushwork and richly textured layers of impasto paint.

Rost earned his BFA in Art from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2004, and participated in the Silver Art Residency program in 2020.
